Hiking Regulations
Participants should generally:
1. respect the departure time and the established program, adapting to any changes made by the guide;
2. present themselves with a psychophysical condition, appropriate clothing and equipment for the excursion or guided tour. If in doubt, ask the guide before the day of the excursion;
3. maintain a disciplined behaviour during the initiative, respecting people and private property and complying with the instructions given by the guide as to the pace to follow, the position in relation to the group, the distance from the others accompanied, etc., under penalty of any loss of responsibility for the Guide, its staff and any organisers, with respect to the safety of the person being accompanied;
4. follow the established route without leaving or leaving the group and without going past the guide;
5. collaborate with the guide for the success of the initiative, as well as being supportive of its decisions, especially in case of difficulties (environmental conditions and/or participants) and inform the Hiking guides of any problems that may arise during the course of the planned activities, including with respect to his own psychophysical conditions and equipment. At its sole discretion, the Guide may at any time, to protect the safety and well-being of accompanying persons (even one accompanied), or substantially modify the program without this giving rise in any case to disputes by participants, for example, in the event of bad weather, an accident or severe fatigue or malaise of any participant, and in any other case of actual or suspected danger;
6. Do not pick any protected flowers, plants or herbs and in all cases follow the instructions given by the guide;
7. keep your waste in the appropriate trash.
Each participant is personally responsible for any risk behaviour to himself or others, including taking personal action despite the guide’s advice to the contrary.
Declaration of eligibility
By accepting these rules, the participant declares under his own responsibility that he is in good health and in a psychophysical state adapted to the practice of the excursion. She/He also declares that she/he has provided the guide with all the information necessary for a proper assessment of his aptitude.
Hiking Equipment
Layered clothing, long hiking pants (light color recommended in summer), good-condition hiking boots or comfortable shoes for walking on rough trails, rain jacket and/or raincoat, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable backpack, lunch box and staff water supply of at least 1.5 liters. The use of walking sticks is recommended. The use of cotton clothing in contact with the body is not recommended: if possible, wear wool or technical hiking clothes.
Hikers who are insufficiently equipped may, at the sole discretion of the guide, be excluded from the hike directly at the starting point.
Mandatory equipment for cycling
Helmet always when the participant is on the bike.
Signal light.
Recommended equipment for cycling. It depends on the season, in general:
1.Sportswear;
2.Pants not wide or longer than your legs;
3. Sunglasses;
4. Wind-proof bike jacket;
5. Neck Warmer;
6. Cycling shoes or in the case of sports shoes and be careful to put laces in the shoes. Sandals or Flip flop forbidden.
Group Ride
It is always advisable to ride in single file at dusk or for lack of visibility, when a vehicle is attempting to overtake and announces its approach.
In the event of a breakdown, stand on the side of the road and not on the road.
At ‘Stop’, yellow light, fixed red light or flashing light, mark an absolute stop for the whole group.
Communicate within the group and use verbal language and gestures to signal an obstacle or vehicle.
Never exceed the guide.
The movement of a group of cyclists on public roads must be carried out under the following conditions:
- Compliance with the Highway Code in all circumstances and throughout the journey;
- Small group travel (never more than 2 from front);
- Use specific cycle paths (where available) on the route;
- Respect the environment and other road users.
Dogs
The Participant who wishes to participate accompanied by his dog has the OBLIGATION, during the booking phase, to communicate the presence of the animal, in order to evaluate the opportunity and the modalities of participation.
The accompanying dog must be docile and easily controllable; the Participant must have means of control and control of the animal such as a leash and/or muzzle or similar. It will be the responsibility of the Participant to ensure that his dog does not cause damage or disturbance to things, people or animals, and that he does not harm flora, private property, or other hikers. The responsibility for the dog’s conduct and any related problems is exclusive to the Participant. Animals in heat or animals that have completed this period within the two weeks prior to the tour will NOT be admitted.
Failure to communicate the participation of the dog or the non-compliance with the provisions for its control may result in the exclusion of the Participant from the excursion, even at the time of departure.
Photographs and video recordings
During the tour or guided tour, photographs and/or video footage will be taken that may appear on public domain sites and will be used by the organization for promotional purposes related to the activity itself. Participation in the excursion implies the authorization of publication of the above mentioned material.
Mobile phones
Participants are asked to keep their mobile phones silent. If necessary, the person concerned is asked to leave the group after communication and authorization of the guide, remaining in view of it.
Audio recording and GPS tracking
During excursions and guided tours, the use of GPS instruments, applications that detect the trail for orientation and/or hiking training is permitted, but by participating, the person accompanied agrees not to disclose the traces recorded. Finally, it is forbidden to disclose any audio/video recording of the guided tours, except those published on the official web channels of the Guide itself.
Acceptance of the Regulation
The participant, by requesting to be accompanied on the above excursion, accepts without reservation these rules which have been widely disseminated. A copy of the rules is published on the Siciliavagando Adventures page and on the website www.siciliavagandoadventures.com and is always present in the backpack of the Guide.
